Dave Ferro Safety Ltd

What's your company story?

I started the company in 2016 during the downturn in the economy; I had received a buy out package from my employer. I was able to find clients fairly quickly and the business is doing well today and we have multiple employees. We offer safety consulting services throughout Western Canada and training including the Canadian Firearms Safety Course.

What do you enjoy most about being a Quikcard member?

Quikcard provided a quick and very flexible solution to providing benefits to myself and my staff members. The plans are fully customizable and work well for both full and part-time employees.

What is one thing people are surprised to learn about your business?

I think people are surprised when we let them know about our exam policy for the firearms courses. We allow a free rewrite to people that do not pass on the first try and we allow students to sit in on another course at no charge if they do not feel comfortable after the first try. We love to see people succeed!

Who is your ideal client/customer?

I guess this depends on which of our services you want. If you are coming in for our training courses, any member of the general public would be a likely candidate. On the consulting side, we work with any type of business that wants or needs to build safety into their operation.

What has been your biggest challenge since COVID-19 and how did you/your business overcome it?

Our biggest challenge was the social distancing requirements. Happily, we had just retained a large classroom before COVID-19 and are able to teach 12 people at a time with plenty of room for 2m distancing.

What is your favourite thing to do in Edmonton (or Canadian city you're from)?

I am a big fan of the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra and the Edmonton Opera.
